FEATURED RETAIL SHOP

My husband and I stopped by Parts and Labour to drop off some handmade pens and nostippines for consignment. Alexandra Renwick, Lizelle Villapando, and Talena Rasmussen gave creative Texans a home to showcase their wares in 2003 by opening Parts and Labour. Crafters and apparel artists have a venue in which to reach out to potential customers and future fans. Their store is bright and friendly and yields quality, handmade items. Located at 1604 South Congress, Austin, Texas. Hours are noon-10pm everyday!

Here is a link to a News8 Austin article & video on Parts and Labour:

FEATURED LOCAL COFFEE SHOP

BOULDIN CREEK COFFEE SHOP

http://www.bouldincreek.com/index.htm

I visited Bouldin Creek Coffee House ( AKA Caffeine Dealer) during national Ride Your Bike To Work Day. Austin Cycling and Austin Ridge Riders organized a meet and greet for bikers trekking to work on their wheels. Free coffee, information and schwag were on the agenda. This coffee shop was a hub for local residents as they congregated during their morning routines. Strangers were less so after leaving with a belly full of goodness. A sense of community reigned. The atmosphere was cosmopolitan as were their guests. The food looked delish and their drip coffee was really, really good. No, really!! This stop is a must for anyone on South First Street.

ABOUT USWE ARE AUSTIN OWNED & AUSTIN PROUD!
Offering a warm, comfortable atmosphere to socialize and study. Featuring exquisite espresso beverages, a staff trained by world-class baristas and free internet access. Conveniently located at San Jacinto and Duvall.

OUR COFFEEJP’s Dark Roast JP’s Dark Roast is our premier Ebony Roast. It is the equivalent of what is known as French or Italian Roast here in the US., although it may be difficult to find coffee roasted this dark in France or Italy. The beans are shiny with coffee oils released by the high heat and the flavor is dominated by the smoky tangy bittersweet attributes of the carbonized sugars. JP’s Dark roast is a blend of SIX different varietals of coffee grown in the Central American Highlands. These include shade grown coffees, as well as older, more fragile antique varieties, rich with subtle and delicate nuances.
Paladino Espresso Paladino is a blend of NINE different varieties of coffee from the Central American Highlands. This complex blend and special roast produces a cup that is rich, round, intense, complete and harmonious, for the ultimate espresso. The brew is thick and sweet, with mild acidity, many aromatic nuances and subtle complexities.
Age And Brewing Process Our coffee is shipped to us twice weekly from our roaster, Zoka Coffee & Tea in Seattle. It is brewed and served between days 3 to 6, which is when the roasted coffee is peaking in it’s flavor as the oils are being released. Our coffee is brewed in an Urn at the ideal temperature for the blend. It is filtered through a cloth filter that holds the water just long enough to absorb the peak flavor of the ground beans. We stir the blend during brewing for even distribution and giving the brew the effect of a French Press. We use approximately 30% more coffee in our brew than most others, approximately one pound for every fourteen cups of coffee.
